  • A new day

    Found jogging down the lane
    Looking to see
The dew falling down on everyone
Back aches as toddlers hang on to mothers
    Yet its pain is unnoticed.

    The quick steps of fathers
As anxiety hangs on his face
    He pays deaf ears
Because he races for his expectation.

    The joy of children
    Forgetting its rest
    Outside its nest
Yet waiting for its play and toy.

    The gaze of a stranger
With pain looking for clear skies
    To sooth its happiness
    All in one new day.

  • What happens when you exhaust everything in you?

Your dreams may be shattered in a twinkle of an eye
    Dream anyways

You may be criticized for laughing when mourning
    Laugh anyways

Your help may be used against you
    Help anyways

Your love my be ignored and not reciprocated
    Love anyways

Your vision may be seen as a piece of trash
    Visionalize anyways

Your prayers may not be answered now
    Pray anyways

Your Righteousness may not be seen
    Be righteous anyways

    The Road may get tough
    Be tough anyways

    Your commitment may be fruitless
    Be committed anyways

You may get what you don’t expect
    Be expectant anyways

The fight may get weary and tiring
    Fight anyways

Your true intentions may be misunderstood
    Be true to yourself anyways

The wind may be hard, the rain may get heavy, the trees may fall but…
    The birds sing anyways

  • Laugh through the fights

The sound of the door banged so hard
Left him with more guilt than ever
Leaving behind the sad tears he heard
That questioned the promises of forever.

Those steps brought him back to reality
    Her enchanting face still hardened
Only to prove it was just a fantasy
Her never returned smile got him frightened
    Something was missing, her laughter.

Sharing the same meal didn’t measure up
Her perfect body beside him made it worse
Sounds of her working fingers ate him up
Her scent in his nostrils made it coarse.

A hundred roses left the door still closed
A thousand words was left her unshaken
A million calls to say sorry got locked
A trillion text of apologies left it broken.

Memories of the past brought emotions
A reminder of what they’ve been through
Pictures of the events and traditions
The trick was a lifetime of shared moments.

The sound of her laughter filled the room
Like a breath of fresh air bringing relief
Anger disappears, swept by the broom
With hands held together at a new belief.

    To laugh through it all
Her laughter was all he needed
